Summertime in Kennebunk, Maine is so full with clear skies and sandy beaches. During the three months of summer my hometown has a major influx of Jamaicans. These people go unseen by the tourists, however the locals extend hands of gratitude and personally develop relationships with these foreign workers.
The intention of my blog is to uncover the increasing Jamaican culture that has been thriving in Kennebunk and Kennebunkport for many years. This topic will be challenging in the aspects of research and to take an etic view of my hometown. Researching the Jamaican culture might take many hours in the library, but I am willing to work hard to learn an interesting aspect of Kennebunk. I will set up my blog with www.blogger.com upon the advice of Professor Torres. For years I lived without a care about different cultures in Kennebunk. Now I am ready to investigate and interpret this special culture along the Coast of Maine.
For a quick insight the Jamaicans start coming in May. They work in very nice restaurants and hotels. Almost every Jamaican is an honest worker and all have extremely down to earth personalities. Being able to familiarize myself with this group of people has formed a certain aspect of my life. This is why I wish to write about the Jamaican culture that works in Kennebunk, Maine during the summer.
